Clay, the financing is to be used to start the manufacturing of the tires. They need a few million dollars to get going. Here is some more information:

They have no current source of income.

Most of the 3 million shares are owned by management. This accounts for the small float.

Management includes former Goodyear executives. Apparently, they believe in ATYR enough to defect from their sinecures.

There is talk about a deal with Cooper Tire. Ideally, ATYR would manufacture/sell car tires to Cooper. I do not know how substantial this "talk" is.

They have no debt. This can be seen as a good or bad sign.

Again, this is extremely high risk. My last post seemed a bit too bullish.
