You ask an interesting question. I once prayed for the peace of Jerusalem on the prayer thread and got a very harsh response from a respondent that accused me of using wrong doctrine in my prayer---I believe the Holy Spirit takes our prayers and according to scripture uses "groanings that cannot be uttered."
I once participated in a Christian College graduation ceremony and one of the pray-ers prayed a "sermon" for about 10-12 minutes---no kidding, it was a regular "sermonette" if you please---not a prayer for God to hear I suspect, but for the audience to hear.
Here we have an "audience" that takes their interpretation of scripture as the "absolute" and anything is fair game.
For example, the Billy Graham's of the world and the Dallas Theological Seminaries of the world would be considered conservative middle of the road Christianity---but some on these threads are radically different from that and carry a diatribe against those that don't subscribe to their "right" point of view.
