Yes, This is one of the "minor" changes to which I was alluding. Intel takes advantage of shrinks to tweak both function and performance of its processors. This is what a considerable number of those "armies" of engineers are doing.

You might also remember they added the segment shadow registers to "fix" the 16 bit code performance shortcoming. Remember how "Cyrix Innovations" supposedly made the M1 better than a Pro? Ahhh, remember Cyrix at all? It is a company that no longer exist. It use to compete with Intel...
