Maybe we're saying similar things but with some semantic friction.
"my morality comes from me." Yeah, once it's in place. But where did it come from? Learning to live with other people, I'll hazard. Growing up in a family where one of the first lessons id the existence of rules of conduct.
If I were solitary all my life (impossible hypothetical situation, granted) I would probably be totally amoral.
All our lives we're presented with quite a menu of choices regarding what the rules are. I built my own set of ethics by choosing among those, with a little help from my parents and peers. I wouldn't hesitate to say my morality came from without, but is sustained from within.
I have learned to be leery of absolutes because none that I've encountered so far has done well under a sustained "reality test". The "basics" - Be Nice, Be Honest, Be Considerate - are high-order composites of many indistinct principles. Everyone makes his/her own mix. Opinion?
