David, I agree with you very well reasoned theory. IMO, Apple is a good long term buy at current levels, but I think better prices will be available over the next few months. I'm on the sidelines now and will reenter only at fire-sale prices ($20 or so) which I believe will happen (not necessarily company-specific-only, as I think the overall market is setting up for a nasty downside move).
