I talked to Zolt's IR on 10/28 to see if there's news to explain price drop. "None" was reply. We then discussed business prospects. I was told that Zoltek's sales are constrained only by its ability to manufacture the carbon filament. They are in process of building new production facility, and will have 8 additional production lines early next year, and total 17 lines in a year or so. Currently they have only one Carbon fiber line. Their Hungarian factory produces acrylic fiber which is then remanufactured into Carbon fiber. The Hungarian acrylic fiber costs them one half compared to other sources.
So, we can perhaps anticipate X10 or more revenues in coming year or so, based on the above, IMO.
When I talked to them a few months ago, I was told that a big customer of theirs was big auto (Ford, maybe) that is using their Carbon fiber for strengthening air bags -- the safety device that deploys on impact.
You seem knowledgeable regarding Carbon fibre tehnology, and I welcome continued posts from you. BTW, how are you connected to this industry? Weaver? I bet you can spin some good ones, eh? ;-)
Zoltek's Q report is due on 19 Nov.
