Chris; RE" CyberTrading Rigz "

You've made some really nice trades, Chris! My experience with stox goes back to when I was 16 or so - my dad and I. But up until last year, my technique was limited to "Buying TechStocks on Dips". I was really good at entry points, and I would buy MSFT INTC AMAT DELL CSCO QNTM on dips, and hold. Over the last few years, when I had some savings to put into stox, this worked very well.

Then last year, the Tech Wreck cut $50K off of my net worth, and that was a painful lesson! Sarte's No Exit (^_^)

So, I started all over again, from scratch. I liquidated everything. I re-read Technical Analysis of Stock Trends (Edwards & Magee). I got Nison's and Morris' books on Candlestick Charting. I got a copy of McMillan's Options as a Strategic Investment and began to learn about options. I got DATEK and Discovery/Lombard to get the RTQuotes. I started to chart indices and practiced trading SPY. I figured - if I couldn't trade (the market) SPY, I shouldn't be trading, period.

I still prefer to "invest", Chris - the only difference now is that I don't hold something just to reduce my tax rate. I "trade" to stay in tune with the market sentiment. I want to make > 20% growth per year on my investments, which represent 80% of my capital. I want to make enough $ on my trading activities to make that 20% annual growth tax free.

This is an interesting group of folks here. I've been on SI for a long time (used to be just Gonzo before my wife and I moved from San Francisco to Paris in DEC-96) but I never read or posted in the threads. I liked to comment on the charts. The INTC chart had this gang of wry wits posting on it: Bob (IntelTrader), Jurgen, TommyG, DolinarJanko, etc., and I fell in with them.

Then the folks at SI did away with the chart-posting function, and so we started this thread simply to hang out somewhere (I was actually the "junior dude" of the group). Berney stumbled across us (he's an F/A expert) and we all fell in love with him. The thread has no focus, Chris - we just chat-n-chew... we like to post our trades to one another but, really - most of us just sit on our stocks and like to pretend we're actually traders {grin}.

IntelTrader (Bob) is the only real day-trader here.

Welcome to the sandbox, dude (^_^)

-Steve
