<<<OT: Days Like Today...>>>
Ahhhh, old friends, come let us sit by the fire and drink cognac and tell stories of the SEEK that was... awkward... fledgling... and at times very difficult... full of quick tantrums... and always brooded over by a dark cloud that we feared might never clear. Still, there was promise we saw. Hints of things that might be.
And, this thread, wasn't it interesting? Not a lot about technique. Not much on the self-congratulation front. After all, what was there to be congratulating one's self for? Patience? Yes, patience. But, who really knew which way this story would turn? I mean, KNEW with the certainty that you know your way home. Or the eyes of a beloved. Or the sounds your house makes after dark.
I think about Tom K. on days like today. It was he who gave me a neighborly greeting after my maiden post. Tom never brags. He just keeps racking up the dollars from his investments in Dell and SEEK. Good Tom, who brings articles and cheer. Tom with the new baby. Thanks, Tom.
I also think about Gene on days like today. Gene keeps a good balance here. Didn't care for my picking on Tim, I'm afraid. (Not that I REALLY picked on Tim... you should see my full range to appreciate. Maybe not.) But, that's part of the balance. And Gene enjoys a good laugh.
( And I also think about somebody called webinfopro on that Yahoo! SEEK thread. And OObserver. And sayzero. And the young but wise Zep. And indygirl. And my friend yannisnk from Athens. All of them in Yahoo! land. Good hearts. Patient folks. )
And, Law, what do I say to you? Have you traveled all this way with us? I can't remember if you were in the room when I first walked in. But, you've certainly made yourself known and valuable here.
Of course, I remember now, Bruce Cullen. It was he and TLindt who used to exchange some viewpoints. Lindt was't a SEEK fan at the time. But... shall I tell the secret? No. I won't. Anyway, Cullen takes the prize for pointing out the star behind the clouds.
And, Spike, you there? And Anthony? And Craig? (If I'm not mistaken, Craig's been around the SEEK thread for longer than I.)
My best regards to you all. Hasn't this been fun... in retrospect, that is? Now that we've had days like today? And, tomorrow? Well, let tomorrow wait. Seep, like a teabag, in this moment. It's a blessing to be right... even if "right" just means that you've got some more money or saw the value and invested accordingly. I suspect, there are folks out there... in the un-cyber world... who've never felt even slightly that they were right. Or had some objective measure to point to when claiming some worth. So, this is something, yes? Something to savor. Imagine were it one of the benighted among us... one of those who are damned to the margins... Imagine how a moment of "rightness" might feel to them.
Not to feel guilty, mind you. (Guilt never changes anything.) But, just to know, in all its tang and intensity, the sweetness--and rareness--of days like today.
Best Regards, SEEKers,
