Prison wardens aren't allowed to beat hardened criminals (it is considered cruel and unusual), parents shouldn't be allowed to beat children. I wouldn't "whoop" a dog, so why would I "whoop" a child or teenager? You bet I would arrest them.

Am I soft on child crime? No way. But violence is not instructive- unless you want more violence. Because nothing teaches violence like having it used on you. Were you ever beaten?
