Okay, limited to the context of your post, my answer is that that one child is safe for seven years, as are this particular criminal's potential unconceived or unborn children. By the letter of the law she is a repeat offender, a recidivist, who shows no remorse or compunction. I couldn't even begin to touch the intent of the law, as opposed to the letter of the law, on this one. Let us just say that if it were one of your children who this person regarded as a soul mate, your additional worries are over for at least seven years, and you received some real value from your tax dollars.

Twist my arm, and I'll recite some horror stories of house arrests and other new-age penalties versus prison and why they do not create utopia for the criminals or the law-abiding.
