As mentioned by another Claude, the price of lead is .26 per lb.
These prices are also quoted in the Northern Miner weekly newspaper.
If you figure out the gross value of the ore with 3% lead,
then you get 2200 x .03 = 66 lbs of lead per ton. at .26 per lb.,
that gives us about $18/ton. Now the actual amount will be less
because they will be shipping to a smelter, which will take its
cut off the gross value. Still, that provides a nice cushion
for the cost of mining the ore.
