Breccia

"Diatreme is a general term for a subvolcanic (below surface) pipe that is emplaced in rocks by a gaseous explosion and which is filled with breccia. Breccia is a term used to describe a type of rock made up of angular pieces of one or more rock type. The angular pieces may be loosely consolidated(uncemented) or held together by a fine matrix or groundmass(cemented). The breccia in a kimberlite diatreme is termed eruptive breccia or volcanic breccia in that the angular pieces making up part of the rock mass got that way as a result of the fracturing nature of the eruptive event. Facies, as used here, means the general appearance or nature of one part of a rock unit (in this case the pipe) as contrasted with other parts (of the pipe)."

Higher diamond grades seem to be associated with coarser grained tuff and breccia.
