I got a mailer from Micron yesterday. After calling and waiting on hold for 10 minutes, I talked to a sales rep. He said that the base battery and the dock battery both use lithium ion technology. He also said that this (4/15/98) was the first day they had been selling the new notebook, and wasn't positive of his facts. When I 'naively' expressed concern about LI+ batteries exploding, he reassured me that this was the battery they had been using in their other notebook line for 1 1/2 years, with no explosions. He didn't know the manufacturer or any specifics about the batteries.. So I presume that this is not VLNC yet....
OFF TOPIC:
The new laptop is called the GoBook. 4 lbs 4oz w/ floppy and bay battery; 6 lbs 12 oz w/ 8 hour base battery and floppy installed. - - 266 MHz...
Any thoughts??
