The new economy and management by computers?

What management? Document management? Knowledge management? Intelligence management?

How do you cut cost and get more done? Using computers, of course. Speed of computers will improve but not by very much any more. The new speed is picked up by Java software, such as Visa credit approval, 3000 transactions in one second. Windows are too slow.

Hardware management can be done on the internet. Support and trouble shooting diagnosis can be run from a server on the net. Software updates by Microsoft and others are all done by a few clicks on your computer then automatically. Intranet is dead, network components manufacturing has been declining for a year now. SSA, fibre channels can all do ATM connections. T3 servers on the internet can speed up many old ethernet intranets.

As intelligence management comes of age with object technology, the economy will be even more productive.
