Silverman was going to get caught one day, and may be the day has arrived. Yes, he lost 1/2 of his paper holdings today, but what about the millions of shares he has been selling. If he truly believed CD was going to keep going up, up and up, wouldn't he hold his options/shares for a longer time?

He has been cheating his shareholders and franchisees. How can you let 5 of your own brands compete with each other at the same intersection? You might as well consider it to be 5 locations of the same brand in a 1 mile radius. In the short term, it might look good because the initial fees will show up in the profits, but as soon as growth slows, the earnings will reflect all the greed.

CUC Travel is not a travel agent as they like to claim. It derives its income by charging a 10% "travel-agent" commission on all reservations made by its discount club members. As soon as the Hotel Division franchisees figure out that they are being conned, you will see a larger problem. You can only con your stockholders and franchisees for so long - it always catches up with you.
