ELWAY MIGHT NOT MAKE CAREER DECISION UNTIL JULY

(AP) - John Elway, who said earlier that he would make a decision
by Saturday on whether he would return for another year with the
Denver Broncos, has gone fishing and won't even be in town this
weekend. Since being told by coach Mike Shanahan that a decision
isn't needed until the start of training camp in late July, the
37-year-old quarterback has decided to postpone announcing his
plans. Broncos owner Pat Bowlen had said he preferred that Elway
make up his mind by Saturday, when the NFL draft is held, but has
softened his stance. Elway and his two backup quarterbacks, Bubby
Brister and Jeff Lewis, left Wednesday for a fishing trip in
central Louisiana.
