I just happened to be on SI looking for something else and found
EyeTel under the "Hot Stocks" category. If I am interpreting the
press release correctly <Startronix International Inc and Eyetel
Technologies Inc announced today that they have formed a strategic
alliance to develop VidCall,a proprietary, customized, scaleable
video teleconferencing service for StarTronix's Internet screen-phone,
StarScreen(TM).> I would be very, very careful
about this one. The key word here is 'proprietary'.

Intel, AT&T, Microsoft and just about everyone but Netscape are
about to hit the market with H.324 based videoconferencing. It
is surprising good video calls over regular telephone lines. Intel
calls the product the Intel Video Phone with ProShare Technology.
Lucent's recent earnings statement noted that their sales of a DSP
to do 'H.324 based videoconferencing over standard phone lines' are
already signficant.

I can't tell from this press release whether EyeTel's product is
ITU- H.324 standards based. I'd check this out. If it isn't, you
could be signing on to a little boat about to hit a tsunami.
