There's nothing new about Hitachi and disk drives. They've nearly beaten IBM several times on increasing areal density. They must have really great R&D and for some reason have never become a high volume player. Notice this drive spins +12,000 rpm. I heard on CNBC that Quatum got an upgrade this morning.
