There is an interesting article in today's edition of the San Jose Mercury Express about an initial public offering of Broadcom (BRCM) a maker of chips for networking equipment and cable modems. The article also mentions "other small but exciting modem players" including Terayon Communications which has filed for IPO and Terayon Communications Systems which recently sold a stake to Shaw Communications. Apparently, Cisco has invested in Broadcom as well as Terayon. How does BAY measure up in the competition for the cable modem market? How much of a factor will the cable modem market be in the future of BAY? Ken Phillipps
