ATLANTA, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Network Connection, Inc. (Nasdaq: TNCX - news; TNCi) an industry leading developer and manufacturer of video and multimedia file-server technologies for the airline, cruise line, train, hotel, education,Internet and corporate Intranet environments, announced today that it has been contracted by Singapore-based Star Cruises, owner and operator of the largest fleet in Asia, to replace the use of 1,096 set-top television controllers with its proprietary Set Top Personal Computers (STPC). The order, which represents $1 million in backlog to the Company, will be delivered in June 1998 and is part of a contract to supply the cruise line operator with its CruiseView(R) in-cabin entertainment system.
STPC is a Pentium(R)-processor-based personal computer that combines integrated networking, communications and multi-media applications. While intended for the Local Area Network (LAN)-based business markets as well as for home-based users, the product complements TNCi's line of Cheetah(R) video- server platforms and is considered a value-added addition to CruiseView.

Star Cruises commands the youngest and most modern cruise-ship fleet in the world and the largest fleet in Asia. The cruise-line operator will become the fourth-largest in the world after taking delivery of its two largest vessels in August 1998 and mid-1999 respectively.
CruiseView is the world's first fully interactive, audio/video-on-demand entertainment system. It provides up to 700 hours of multimedia activities including movies, computer games, destination videos, ports-of-call catalog shopping, activity sign-ups, shipboard services and internet access to over 2000 simultaneous users.
TNCi designs, manufactures and distributes the Cheetah(R) family of video server platforms that enable the storage and delivery of up to 700 hours of digital video/audio data to up to 300 simultaneous video/audio users over local area networks.
