At least one cable technology (Com21) has built-in QOS controls ... allowing the vendor to slice up the service or allow the parties to contend. Besides ... for the 1-3 year future, it won't be the drop that's slow ... it'll be all the stuff beyond ... backbone, overloaded servers, etc, etc. Hooking to the web at 10 Mbps is an interesting experience ... some stuff gets very fast, but overall it's still the world-wide-wait.
