What about Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and Joseph and all the other Old Testament characters? Didn't Paul say that Abraham's faith was counted unto him as righteousness, and doesn't that mean that Abraham was saved through his faith in God, the only true God he worshipped during his life, and not by works, just like us Christians?

I would have to agree with your statement if you had preceded it with the words "Now that Messiah came and died on the cross," (there is no salvation outside of Jesus).
