I've never trashed Summit. But I think the market has clearly agreed with me that Visx is the superior company. Since I don't want to spread my laser vision correction money around to every laser company, but would rather focus on the best prospects, it seems reasonable to go with the outfits with the best intellectual, managerial, and fundamental qualities.
Maybe Summit will acquire Novatec or Autonomous, or maybe not. If they don't, it looks like Summit will become an increasingly marginal player if their installed base is replaced. They blew it from the beginning, unlike Visx, which has done everything right.
