JD, that's interesting that you didn't get filled. I saw two 5,000 share blocks go through at 1/2 and figured those were yours. So either it's not possible to buy at that level, or your broker isn't working hard enough to find a seller. I'd be interested to see if someone would sell 1,000 to you at 5/8. It does seem to me that buying this stock right now is very difficult. So much for efficient markets.
As far as this WAN problem goes, I suggest we clear this up, because there's lot of misinformation out there. Apparently some people think SEXI can run the analog signal throughout the whole country at 30fps. The analog signal is ONLY run the LAN, or campus environment as you call. To transfer to a digital signal and put video out over the WAN, you need a codec, just like any other videoconferencing company. This is what SEXI currently uses for WANs. There isn't anything to difficult to having a "WAN solution". Install enough ISDN lines and voila, 30fps. Numerous other companies have this capability of getting 30fps over a WAN. SEXI's WAN capabilities are no better or no worse than their competitors. Last time I checked they were using a VTel codec for their WANs. Now what they are currently trying to do is to configure the systems so that they "dial up the video user right from the computer". Right now they have to go to the codec whenever they want to go outside the campus environment. Sounds like a pain in the ass to me. I spoke to Don Chaparich yesterday, and he said that's what the other companies are doing as well. So if SEXI can get their systems to run from the desktop, essentially eliminating the "operator", you have yourself a huge convenience and time-saving factor. He mentioned they are working on some software and other technology right now. Keep in mind that SEXI's main advantage to other companies in the LAN, or campus environment. But I think to say that SEXI doesn't have a WAN solution is errorenous. They don't have the WAN solution that they currently want, but I'm told they are planning on rolling that out in December, hopefully in time for the San Diego trade show. If you live near San Diego, I really hope you'll go to this show because I want to hear about this. By the way, Don seems technically competent (he's the "webmaster") and he's currently handling PR inside the company. I suggest giving him a call if you're interested in where the technology stands. If you want rumors about contracts, he's not the guy to call. He also said they are working on getting a release out soon (next week?) explaining the current state of the company. That's it for now.
Hubert, thanks for info on OTC's new "client". I plan to issue warnings on AOL and SI if a thread shows up. |
