Nice to see the Patent (by date - 7/1985). Many new to GIFT may not know that IBM was the 1st major co to license the patent. That brings me back to "my history" w GIFT. I have previously told my story early on this thread.
When I 1st learned of GIFT and the Freeney patent, I was a sceptic. A lifelong buddy was then a patent atty for IBM. I had learned that some months ago, IBM lic's it and asked him if he ever heard of this patent.
To my surprise, he was quite familiar w it as his close colleague @ IBM handled it, researched it, etc. Naturally, I asked him "....So, ...what do think of the patent?" They were of the opinion that the patent was good, the claims, for the most part would be upheld, although some of the many claims were too broad and may well be limited. He would not disclose any of the terms of the IBM license. After asking him more to "get a handle" on it, I was and have since remained convinced that this is a hugely valuable patent. The market for all internet business has expanded exponentially.
Once we get to court and the market "shines its light" on GIFT the run that the other internet stocks have made recently will "pale in comparison" and those who hold will be very well rewarded and those who sold in this area will be proven to have been "penny wise and pound foolish". Mel
