Paul, The real danger for South Africa will be the political turmoil that is bound to erupt when Mandela dies. As in most of Africa there is great tension between white and black. Mandela has the stature with both sides to keep things calm. However, when he is gone there is no guarantee that the next leader can maintain the relative harmony. This could have a great (negative) impact on the mines. Those with heavy weighting of SA golds should be aware and cautious.
