Chucky Boy,
I have taken the liberty of posting some comments you made on February 3,1998, from the WSP thread. Seems like you were a bit bullish on WSP at over 1.00(in fact, at what seems to have been the high for the stock so far in 1998). Your comments can be seen at the end of this soliloquy. I suppose your negativity on MPV should be considered a welcome omen.
To try to sell the concept of a negativity concerning MPV based on an attempt to outwit the thinking of DeBeers is a nonstarter right out of the box. DeBeers has yet to play its hand. And unless you are speaking with decision makers(de verdad)at the company, you have no information concerning their intentions of exceptional value. And, if you truly believe that your thought process can outwit theirs, I propose that it can't. Otherwise, you would be sitting on the throne in which sits one Mr. Oppenheimer. And, I hasten to add, you dont seem to be sitting on any type throne at all, being as though you are acting as if you have a large pain in your ass, a condition not normally associated with those rather comfortable throne like seating devices.
DeBeers will eventually deal some cards from its deck, when it wants to and, unfortunately, at its own choosing as to when. I would say that the results of the mini bulk sample will provide some impetus towards a card being thrown out-whether that be a king of spades or a two of hearts we do not know. But, this is what I will keep my eyes on-that is the ball for now-not your purported big picture strategic non thinking towards the intentions of one of the most secretive(and therefore successful) cartels in the history of the world. Its just a non starter to try to sell any ideas towards the intentions of DeBeers. Show me a picture with you and Nicky Oppenheimer skiing down the slopes of Chamonix and I will then lend more than zero to your prognostications over the intentions of an organization built around control, secrecy, and connections(and all the other implicit things which go with that). No Chucky, you better confine your arguements towards the geology. And in this realm, why even bother because DeBeers is going to do it for you, courtesy of the mini bulk sample which is taking place as I and you mutually engage in worthless yet hopefully entertaining banter. After they analyse over 200 tons of rock from the four pipes and publicly reveal the results, then we will have something worthy of speaking about and even speculating about-that being the potential economic value of the pipes. You want to short the stock betting that 40% Gem quality is the threshhold which must be met for DeBeers to go to production-Feel Free. It is the opposite side of your arguements which , for me, actually contain more plausible logic. That is, DeBeers will want to have a productive mine(assuming that it is economic)in Canada, an area which will account for a significant percentage of gem quality stones within the near future and a country which has much less political risk than 99% of the countries in which they normally operate. By this line of reasoning, their threshold of Gem quality stones may be less than they otherwise would consider worthwhile. This is just a passing remark and has no factual nor analytical basis. Just a thought which may seem more plausible than the other side of the logic. You commentary regarding quality of stones is, at best, a guess, because nobody really knows, to date, the true quality of the stones except MAYBE DeBeers. And, on the face of it, they have elected to spend some money and time and resources in going to the next step of mini bulk. So, on the face of it, there exists something of interest for DeBeers to look at. The more plausible arguement up to now is that the initial sample results were encouraging to go to the next step-NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. So my dear web colleague Chuckster, please ponder these remarks and get out your biggest weapon of choice and blast them to smitherenes for all of us to see. Lets have a real Western shootout in the old cyber saloon and after the gunfight, we will start wheeling out the nuclear weapons-mind you -nothing too serious to begin with-a couple of neutron bomb like devices so as to contain the collateral damage- and then moving to the more lethal nuclear weaponry-as the situation sees fit. The gloves are off and I invite all to draw after 10 paces to the north.
Skelly... MPV is a good play and makes money and is going to make a lot more money for a lot of people.......period. they'll probably never put up a mine ...but ...who cares its irrelevant..........you make money on the stock........it's just another mining stock.....your'e getting negative on Wsp because Aber pulls out is just a "knee jerk reaction" no thought, no stragety, no nothing......go to bed ...it's late... and you're tired......chuck |
