No, that's not the story. The thread was pulled by Brad because he felt we (and perhaps especially I) were bordering on harassment by trying to find out more about the Dave Mammal. I don't know whether Dave complained a second time or not.

But all in all, I think pulling the thread--as much fun as it was--was a good idea, and may serve to discourage other touts from trying the same thing.
