Gee its nice to see this thread revived. Having no children, its rather nice to be able to relate on some level.

Jake's mom,

Your comment, "Jake LOVES the cold, wet days of Spring--second only to the freezing, snowy days of winter" reminds me of an incident which happened about six weeks ago.

Bear HATES storms so even when it starts raining he'll start whining and pacing. He seems to like to be as close to us as possible. One day my wife, S.J., came home from work. It had been storming for awhile so she fully expected Bear to meet her at the front door a little more so than usual. But when she walked into the house he was nowhere in sight. She started to look around the house, but couldn't see him. Finally, she called out for him.

Bear, searching for a tight, protective place had crawled around and behind the fish tank stand and laid down. He was so scared that he didn't even want to leave when S.J. finally came home. Bear is a large dog, weighs about 90 lbs., and has a girth of about 27" or so. I suspect he filled up all of about the 18" between the wall and the tank stand. S.J. said that to her amazement, he didn't even knock any of the apparatus off of the stand.

Definitly agree with the cold, snowy weather part. He loves it. Of course if I wore the equivalent of a raccoon coat all year, I'd probably prefer the cooler clime as well.

Nice to read ya all again,

BTW, did anyone see the little girl (on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno") who put together a contraption to keep a dog dry? It was a harness with an umbrella attached. I thought it was a pretty clever idea. Don't know how practical it would be though.
