Thanks Eddie, I caught that post. Unfortunately, there are no data to back that contention up. But here are some data to mull over: for its most recent quarter Compaq had a gross margin of 18%, down from 26.3% for the same quarter during the previous year. It is difficult for me to imagine that the cheap computers are generating 20% given that fact.

I would be very surprised if the margins on those machines reached 10%.
