Pete: As stated, I did not hear the call in question nor Brinker's
response. However, I stridently agree with you in principle that
tax increases on an already overtaxed American populace are
anathema. The problem, as you might concur, is that we have gov-
ernments- federal, State, and local- which have insatiable appetites
for irresponsible, counter-productive, or unnecessary programs and
have determined that productive citizens are but sheep to be fleeced
for the ulterior motive of rewarding substantial portions of the
electorate for their continued votes and dependency.

Forbes Magazine reported recently that governments' take of the
US domestic income is at an unprecedented 37.5%. Many of us
see up to 60% of our incomes evaporate into the black hole of
government bureaucracy. Nobel Prize winner Milton Freidman tells
us that even the serfs of Medieval Europe were taxed at but 25%
of their output.

What was Brinker's expressed rationale, if any, for his advocacy
of taxation on 100% of Social Security benefits?
