Steve, There is a very good chance that Panretin gel is active toward acne. It does activate the 3 RARs and it is related to tretinoin (active ingredient in Retin-A) and isotretinoin (active ingredient in Accutane), which is why it is called alitretinoin.

For some reason, LGND has chosen to go after oral instead of topical treatment. The Panretin oral treatment for psoriasis has been completed, but LGND wants to check out oral Targretin before deciding which compound to take to Phase III.
