Interesting tidbit on Heavy Gear from www.Badkarma.com Heavy Gear SIM The Heavy Gear sim from Activision did not impact the Mecha sim community as many expected. However a core group of Multiplayer fans still play and many look forward with nervous hope for a 1.2 patch to improve the beta Multi play features and support league play. Heavy Gear was in initially planned for development at Activision with their "A" team. The team that brought us MW2 and more recently BattleZone. For what ever reason, the game was developed by a mix of internal and external developers. The result? Well, I personally like the game, but it didn't live up to expectations Heavy Gear 2 Then came the "A" team. As stated before, Activision has achieved great success when serious commitment is achieved across the board within the company. It's early still, but our initial impression of HG2 is that this may be the case with its development. If it is, and Acti' is pulling out the big guns; then the Mecha sim players should be in for a treat. However, anyone STILL looking for a 'Mech, will continue to be disappointed. The only way anyone can develop a mature opinion of Heavy Gear games is to accept them with an open mind bereft of BattleTech ideals of Mecha. This is a very different universe. Let's hope so! Tom
