WTH - there will be another dip, if that's what you want. The end-of-quarter options expiry is always interesting - lots of trading opportunities.
The TechStock story was MSFT, DELL and CSCO/LU. Not at the party were INTC, AMAT and QNTM sectors. Chips and Machinery&Equipment will come back - but do we still need DiskDrives? IBM and HWP essentially went sideways. AAPL made a turnaround, of sorts; CPQ bit off an acquisition too big to chew, and then stuffed the channel full of PC's. NSCP collapsed and folks were so desperate for some TechStock to buy - other than MSFT, DELL and CSCO/LU - they bid up the "Y2K" and "SearchEngine" stocks.
Now, "Y2K" is a great Long-Term Equity Option buy {grin}. I mean, what do they do after 2000, right ? SearchEngines can morph into internet business sites, maybe. But Y2K ?
Really a bummer that we can't diversify into SAP. There's a symbol that pops up sometimes, "SAPHY", but I can't buy it or any options on SAP. How do you buy SAP ? Well, at least we got ERICY, NOK.A and PHG.
Banks and Brokers and BigDrugz made out like bandits. BigOil made +10% despite falling crude; and Chemicals did +20%; as did AirLines. BigCars did well, and no one thought they would, if I recall. BioTech barely blipped. Bondz were stable right at where they are right now: 5.87%
We should just end 1998 right here, and go into 1999.
