Kerm - anyone connected in oilpatch/ YEAR 2000. Looking for general comments regarding how the "Year 2000" Computer Transition may impact Western Canadian oil/gas situations. Glancing at the recent annuals that have started to appear it appears companies are conforming to general reporting standards and at least giving lip service to the general Year 2000 issue. An example is Poco Petroleum's recent report - mentions that tests are happening on approx. 500 pieces of hardware and 200 applications and operating systems for compliance. Next breath, "The land, accounting and production reporting systems are not currently year 2000 compliant and a conversion project is underway." General spin becomes that the Y2K challenge appears to be one that shouldn't be too hard to overcome. Current estimate is something in the lines of "significantly less than one percent of spending." Last year Poco's CAPEX program was just over $626mil. Any comments from anyone who may have a decent forward-look idea as to what Y2K may mean to companies? What types of operations may be more at risk compared to others, etc.?............. I don't know and may be spinning on a tangent. Kerm, thanks too for write-up on Pan East - very thorough.
