Frank:

I for one am very curious, what has management said about the past & current affairs of the company to the employees? How have they reassured employees that all is not lost and the company will recover from the current situation?

As for your 2 years of sweat equity (and everyone else's) at the company, I'm sure you were compensated for your efforts in some form of $$$ to maintain a standard of living. If you were promised further riches via equity and/or options in IMES then your sweat equity is going down the proverbial drain. While there are multiple possibilities as to why you (and others) are staying with IMES I surmise:

a) you believe IMES will stay solvent and hence be able to cash in on you sweat equity
b) you have been promised the same riches in a new entity (IPIQ or something else)
c) your current compensation is above average for a design engineer in Austin.
d) <fill in the blank>

If either B or C are true then no further explanation is needed. On the other hand if A please take a moment and share your wisdom (or management's) as to why IMES will stay afloat and everyone will be happy in the end.

BTW if any IMES employee reading this would like to make a statement regarding current or past events I'm sure there are several people on SI that would be glad to post an anonymous message on your behalf. I don't know if Larry Huang is interested in providing this service but I would think being a former employee and (I think) current investor he provides a bridge of trust... just a thought.

Larry Huang you've been quite as of late, can you share any information from your own grapevine?
