The new economy and changes in network configuration?

E-commerce is changing network configuration. Web servers can be connected by telephone lines, modem, T1/E1, and T3. Private network is not servicing the outside vendors or customers. EDI (electronic data interchange) the old system is no longer needed; what with html, cgi, etc.

This presents a serious challenge to the new economy. If most companies, not aware of the change and still hold on to the old networks; they will close their doors.

Are we going to depend on IBM to show us the way? IBM is totally devoted to Web E-commerce now and starting this year. But many computer and computer related companies have not come on board yet. All software and hardware have to be manufactured to the latest platforms and application solutions based on web e-commerce.

So much for that, the new economy will slow down if computer engineers and programmers do not keep up with the trend. Companies going out of business will surely slow down the job creation and thus the new economy.
