WHOA!! That's quite a scenario. Makes for great reading even if it is fiction (which I can't really say one way or another).

Any thoughts or advice on where to look to research this more? I'm very interested in any kind of corroboration or contradiction.

Also, on a related note, what is everyone's take on the "value" of gold? I'm not talking in US Dollars, but in "intrinsic" terms whatever that means. Gold has always been used as money and such, and has pretty much always been considered valuable, but why? Dollars have value because of the backing of the US Government and perhaps their widespread use, but why does gold have value? (yes, I'm the type of person that might ask "why does anything have value").

Any thoughts or pointers?
