Dear Yaccov, another comment on the Templars. Have you been to their round church which is still on a tiny street off from the main Temple. It is where one of the knight/monks is buried in effigy.
I would expect there to be a very holy feeling in that place. So I'm curious who has been there.
The Hospitaliers, only, the order of St. John of the Cross, were in Malta. NOW CORECT ME IF I'M WRONG, but at no time were the Poor KNights of the Temple of Jerusalem ever given a berth of any sort in Malta. To my recollection (all studies on this done in l994-96) of course their main fortress/monastaries are in the holy land, and the one at Krac de something on the ocean somewhere apparently is in good condition still.
All of their holdings were "given over" to the Hospitaliters order in Spain, but as history shows us, the vast fortunes accumulated by these evil men on their own apparently never was and the only vast fortunes were those of various kings who used the monasteries to keep their money and booty safe because these monks were also the biggest and baddest around when it came to being able to stop the wicked in their activities.
The Temple Knights were given a gorgeous island in the Mediterranean, and I'm thinking it has to be Cyrus but also most definintely something wonderful was at Rhodes? Anyway, that was all R&R places. Mainly they were in the order to go die for Christ and meet his enemies in the saddle on some field somewhere. Which apparently most of them did in the course of 200 years.
Yes, I do love the Order of the Poor Knights of the Temple.
They were some of France and originally Norway's absolute finest aristocracy, joined by the most exciting, I'm sure of all the poor peasants who wanted to be part of the Templar monks.
Of course for the Army Brat of All Army Brats, I hold this as my highest possible male ideal. Perhaps even the Lord did also. That's my feeling on the matter. |
