Hello AMTDers. I've been doing some research on Ameritrade and have come up with many positives and one big negative. I would appreciate comments from bulls and bears on the following:

POSITIVES:

Now trading at 2.9x annualized revs. vs. 4.7x for E-trade.
Market cap./customer = 1,975, vs 2,514 for E-trade.
Trading at 17.8x 8/99 est. earnings of $1.66.
Trades handled/day now 17,600, +66% over prior quarter.
Decreasing costs per account.
Float only ~ 3.6M shares, 1M or so short.
Declining adv. costs could spike earnings over next few qtrs.

NEGATIVE (a biggie) - SLOW/POOR SERVICE!!!!!

I have seen many posts on Yahoo and SI from people bitterly complaining about the service. Can someone who has used both Ameritrade and Waterhouse compare the service they have received? A couple of questions about service at Ameritrade:
1.) Are there no real-time quotes? I don't see how you can trade without them.
2.) Does it cost $5 extra to place limit order? I use these 90% of the time and if this is the case Waterhouse is cheaper at $12.
3.) If the confirmations are so slow how do you know if your trade has gone through? I've seen people post that they don't care about the confirmation if the trade has gone through. I don't see how you can have one without the other.

Sorry the post is so long but if Ameritrade can give service as good as Waterhouse they will do great. If not, there is no reason for myself or anyone else to change.

Thanks for any and all responses in advance,
Robbie
