All, Got my hands on a HP Celeron-266 system at Best Buy today and ran it through a few paces. Needless to say it's response time was down right slow... especially when loading programs where the hour glass took seemingly forever to go away. Appeared more like a 486. That lack of cache just takes the "snap" out of things. Worse than that the price was $1299 vs $1399 for a Pentium II-266. I thought these units were going to be sub-$1000. Someone forgot to tell HP and Best Buy. The Salesman din't think a lot of it either and thought only the uninformed/unsuspecting would by it. Of course all the boxmakers will embrace it with open arms. Why not, they can switch more to Intels proprietary Slot one and help guarantee Intels monopoly on the chip market...Then of course Intel will reward them by jacking up the price of processors. (last paragraph tongue in cheek) <G>. Jim
