Charles: I'll have to disagree on this one. What, pray tell, have regulations done to slow the flow of illegal drugs in the US? We consume more illegal drugs per capita (by far) than any other country in the world. The regulations have done nothing, nill, zilcho. And besides that we get to pay hard earned tax dollars to create and enforce them. What is it now, each American, on average needs to work through June of every year to pay for all taxes (property, income, state, sales, gas, liquour, etc). And what do we get for this, well some good things like roads, etc., but also catalogs of legal regulations which have done nothing related to what they are intended for. In fact, the environmental business is a perfect example. The bureaucrats passed environmental regulations which they do not even enforce at this point in time (due to business lobbies). The alignment of Government with Business, as Jefferson warned, has caused the use of many of these regulations to further the incestuous relationship that we have allowed to develop between private industry special interest groups and our bureaucrats (via lobbies and money). |
