Re It sounds like somone has been preaching at you regarding what teachers teach in sex education classes. First of all, the parents need to sign release forms to even allow their children to be in these classes. And secondly, abstinence is definitely emphasized. Because the average age that children become sexually active all over the western world is fifteen-and-a-half, however, it is also realistic to provide information about contraceptives and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. And it is the responsibility of parents to be the primary moral teachers of their children. I am surprised that you are trying to indict the schools here. It sounds like you have been told a lot of things that are not true, the kind of things that keep the religious right faithful because "they" are trying to get all of you, and corrupt you. Oh, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Preaching at me? Christine, what do you know of what happens in the local elementary schools in MY county? Answer: Nothing. But that doesn't stop you from running off your mouth, does it? No. FYI, We do have at least one instance I know of here, a few miles from me, of a 3rd grade openly lesbian teacher doing her own bit of education, including bringing in her lesbian lover and explaining everything to these 3rd grade kids. 'nough said on that. |
