Thanks to all for the phone numbers. I actually have already made one call. Alas, since I hadn't even heard of this company until 5 pm on Friday, and they appear not to have had anyone there to answer my questions over the week-end, I hope to learn more during business hours later today. I still think the strength of Arcon's patent position is one of the real keys to their long term success. IF (and that's still a big IF in my view) I am correct about which ones are their current US patents, I am not filled with a great deal of confidence. In fact, I am more than a little surprised that the patent examiner granted them on the basis of the examples provided. I am quite confident that the mixture of ethanol, butane, i-pentane, n-pentane and toluene described in the patent example does not have an octane of 148 as claimed. My calcs would suggest the octane of this mixture is under 100! My humble technical opinion is that I could well imagine potential competitors of Arcon concluding this patent(s) could be shown to be invalid, should push come to shove in litigation. I hope Arcon will indeed be as forthcoming with additional publicly available information as some of you have indicated; although, I will be very surprised if they're willing to provide answers at the level of technical detail I am seeking. We will see.
