Case is not closed. You are 100% wrong.

Granted that many applications capture years in two digits, but this does not necessarily mean that:

1) That any date dependent calculations are then done on this input.

2) That if any date calculations are done, that there aren't already some assumptions built in for post 2000 dates (i.e. windowing).

3) That even if incorrect date calculations are done, that this will necessarily crash the program.

The Y2K problem is a big hoax. It is taking a relatively trivial problem and blowing it WAY out of proportion. Pointing to a lot of alarmist articles and books on the subject does nothing to change the fact that this is still a hoax. Thousands of articles were written in the early 70s about how the Earth was doomed to run out of petroleum by the end of the century. Didn't happen - in fact the real cost of oil has dropped dramatically since then.
