Frank,
My interests have been in the speech recognition (ASR) component. I can envision a time when, using ASR, computer-based translation, and text-to-speech (TTS), I can say something into my phone (or computer), and it will come out at the other end (to one of my colleagues in France, let's say) in their native language, so we can converse with anyone. Seems like this will be well-suited to VoIP!
Using the same technologies, anyone should be able to post to SI, let's say, using a keyboard, auto PC with ASR, phone, or whatever, in their native language, and everyone reading/hearing on the other end can do so in their native language. I participate in a couple of medical bulletin boards which would be quite enhanced by this feature.
So, I'm trying to learn about VoIP, and your postings have been quite helpful - thanks again!
