To all: I attended an Investor's Fair today sponsored by my regional NAIC council. One of the presenters was Intel. After the presentation (which was very impressive and informative as to the near-future direction of the co.), I got a chance to talk to the IR guy individually.
The main two topics I asked him about were the 200mHz Pentium shortage and the Wintel NC buzz.
He told me that due to increased agility that INTC has been strategically demanding of itself, what was a potentially large issue regarding a shortage of 200mHZ MPU's is now a much minor one, with progress on how to address the situation being made w/in the last couple of weeks. He told me that Intel expects to fill all its pre-Christmas orders for the MPU's, and all concerns otherwise should not be given too much weight.
He also told me that the co. is not thinking that NC is going to amount to be anything. He pointed out that users are going to be severely disappointed in any such machines, and that NC machines would be a huge step backwards, and that all co.'s wanting to buy such machines would be served just as well by buying used 286's and 386's.

It doesn't sound like there's a whole lot to be concerned with, if you buy the co. line. So far, they haven't given us any reason not to, IMHO.
