Andrew, this is the sort of acquisition that Lin was looking for: expansion of THQI's proprietary effort. It's really amazing that the cash part of the deal is so little: $600,000 from total cash reserves of about $20 million by the end of Q1. How does Farrell do it? The stock part of the deal suggests GameFX has high hopes for THQI going forward. I can't believe Lin didn't know anything about this before his upgrade. I am still trying to find out more about GameFX and how the deal will boost THQI's profile in the industry and among analysts. From a strategic perspective, THQI has added to its proprietary effort: viewed as too limited in the past by Lin and other analysts. While this was never a limitation to growth in the past, I think THQI will now be rewarded a higher P/E multiple: both by the analyst community and the market. Lastly, I noticed that the ceo at GameFX sits on an Intel board as a technology advisor on 3-D issues. Nice one. Welcome to THQI's new High Tech Czar.
