doug, the only way to fight (SUCCESSFULLY) e-trade is to go to arbitration with them. call the sec and ask for the procedures manual for simple arbitration (less than $10k). when we signed an e-trade broker agreement we agreed to an arbitration clause for disputes. run a transaction lisiting on your account with etrade to see if indeed they have your electronic order confirmed as a buy or sell, if it is a sell then you have to go no further than talking with etrade and showing them the electronically recorded transaction for your account

good luck
