Someone a while ago was asking about Cdn. Mutual Funds holding oil/gas positions. Saturday's edition of the Globe & Mail mentioned a couple.......... sidenote - it's not always a good thing to see your "investments" written about in glowing terms in newpapers. Are we nearing a peak?.... The Green Line Energy Fund was mentioned. In 1995 assets were approx. $23 mil. & now they're $61.4 mil. $15 mil. of new cash came into the fund during October......... Another fund mentioned was the 20/20 RSP Aggressive Smaller Companies Fund. Fund is sold by AGF & run by Bill Andersen/Bill Kyne of Driehaus Capital Management Inc. of Chicago. Fund currently has $199 mil. in assets and is currently 40% weighted in oil/gas, up from 19% just 4 months ago. Major holdings include Canadian Natural Resources (6.9% of fund's assets), Abacan Resources (4.9%), Berkley Petroleum (3.6%), and Crestar Energy (3.5%). Also noted was that the fund expects natural gas producers to perform relatively well and has moved into natural gas plays including Rio Alto Exploration, Denbury Resources, Chieftain International Inc. and Anderson Exploration Ltd.
